Training and support

Some LEADER areas have partly funded a website to provide extra support to help you apply for a grant. The website provides:

  • an explanation of the LEADER grant;
  • help in choosing the right grant measure for your project;
  • help in creating a business plan for your project and the longer term;
  • step-by-step guidance through the application process;
to give you the best chance of getting a rural grant.
What's the funding for?
  • Farmers and growers - diversification and adding value.
  • Foresters and contractors - sustainable activities with wood products.
  • Rural communities and small businesses - growth or providing better facilities.

LEADER is a programme that originated in Europe, and stands for Liaison entre actions de developpement rural - integrated action for rural development. See the EU website for more details

Rural grants for your business or community project

There is £3.9 billion of support, including grants for rural projects available in England until 2013

The LEADER project (see definition on the right) covers all of Europe, and the money allocated to England is there to provide rural grants for farm diversification, community projects and small businesses in areas all over the country. The grant funding is normally available for sums of up to £50,000 towards projects that will benefit the rural economy or communities. Look at the RDPE website (here) to see if you live or operate in an area that has rural grants available.

If you want help in giving your project and grant funding application a better chance of success, you might look at our getting help page to find out where we fit in. Our aim is to increase your chances of success, both in applying for a rural grant and in getting good results from your project.

To help you. the areas who are providing the training for rural grants are listed below. The area name links to the website, the map link shows the area in detail and the 'contact me' link starts an email to the relevant programme manager so you can ask them to call you.

If your area is not listed below then do contact us to discuss how you could get access to this website for yourself
